IIn 2014, the airport handled 3.7 million passengers, making it the 15th largest airport in the United Kingdom by total passenger traffic. The single 1,953m length runway is served by one passenger terminal, along with three helipads and accompanying helicopter terminals from which North Sea operations are run.
Flight operators and international destinations include KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (Amsterdam), Iceland Air (Rekyavik), Air France (Paris) and Lufthansa (Frankfurt) along with UK domestic flights to cities including London, Birmingham, Cardiff and Newcastle.
Aberdeen International airport offers a wide range of shops, restaurants and bars, including various popular high street brands such Boots, Costa Coffee and Dixons. Whether it’s pre-flight or post-flight, restaurant options include The Kitchen, The Globe or The Granite City by Wetherspoons. World Duty Free located immediately after security control provides passengers with the chance to purchase a range of products at reduced prices in comparison to the UK high street, including cosmetics, alcohol and perfume. The free Shop & Collect services enables passengers to buy goods before departure and collect upon return, after baggage claim and security at a designated collection point.
Travelex foreign currency exchange is situated both before and after security, offering travelers the option to order one of over fifty different currencies online in advance, ready for collection at the airport. Unused foreign currency upon return to the airport can also be exchanged here. For convenience, ATMs are located before and after security.
Free BT Openzone wi-fi is provided throughout the airport along with several interactive internet terminals and printing facilities (the latter located inside Costa). For a comparatively modest charge, the Servisair Executive Lounge provides access to telephone, fax and internet facilities, whilst offering you the opportunity to relax (up to three hours) prior to departure, regardless of which airline you are flying with. The British Airways Terraces Lounge and Eastern Airways Lounge provide a similar service for passengers flying with the respective airline and is complimentary depending on ticket type. Other standard airport facilities include left luggage, lost property, special assistance and baggage enquiries. Payphones and mobile phone charge points are also located throughout the airport.
A number of hotels are located on site at the airport, including Courtyard by Marriott, Premier Inn and Thistle Hotel.
